Practicing gratitude brings great gain for gratefulness is godliness. When you are ungrateful you are proud. Meaning, you lack the humility to accept that “we brought nothing into the world and can take nothing out of it (1Timothy 6:7).”
Paul, the apostle, was a man of gratitude. Thanking God in every circumstance, especially when he saw the growing faith of his converts and their love for one another. He sent “thank you” letters to friends and partners.
In his letters he openly acknowledged and praised by name, all who assisted him in his work. He talked about their great inputs and accrued his success to God’s grace and the support of his coworkers. Are you thankful? Do you feel you deserve honor because of your hard work? Or that your success is self-made? Are you willing to admit the truth that you are what you are only by the grace of God? Let us pray…
Are there things and people I should be grateful for?
Pray: Father, I am grateful for what you are doing in my life and the lives of those around me. I thank you for those who have helped me to be who I am and for those you have enabled me to influence. Help me to be grateful all the time. Amen!
