DIGNITY OF WORK

God took the Man and set him down in the Garden of Eden to work the ground and keep it in order. …My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. I must work the works of Him who sent Me… He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
-Genesis 2:15; John 5:17; John 9:4; Proverbs 10:4; Proverbs 22:29

Jesus said the Father is working and He Himself is a worker. We see that even in Eden where all things were provided for, God charged Adam with the responsibility of dressing it and keeping it clean and fruitful. God gave Adam ‘work’ before He gave him a wife. The patriarchs – the people of the covenant, all had occupations. Abraham was a farmer. What are you…?

God said I will bless the work of your hands (Deuteronomy 15:10).  So, there is dignity in labour. Giving positions you for the blessing but working delivers the blessing into your hands.

How does work complement my faith?

Pray: I declare, as my Father works so therefore, I work. I am blessed because I am a labourer. God is blessing the work of my hands.
